Ko-Katanas (or Chisa Katanas) are katanas that has been reduced in blade length for the ease of use in tight quarters. These swords still has a katana length handle and can be used as either single or double handed swords. They are faster to draw and lighter to maneuver. The more frequent applications of this blade in modern time are within karate dojos.

The "Yamakami" Ko Katana is a specialized blade made to match the Yamakami katana. The theme of this blade is the mokko shaped mounting with the snow capped top of Mt. Fuji in its design. This is a broad blade made especially for exercises cutting goza or tatami omote mats. Its construction is based on a specialized dojo cutter and is the result of over half a year in development. Using a through hardened 1060 carbon steel blade, this sword matches our "Mokko" katana in almost every way except in blade and handle length. This blade is created in response to our surprisingly popular ko-katana (chisa katana) lines where the katana length tsuka (grip) is matched up with the wakizashi length blade.

The Kaze (Wind) Ko Katana is the result of a clay tempered (hardened) blade using our 9260 Silicon Alloy Spring Steel. This sword is made as a companion sword to the full length Kaze Katana, similar to the Kaze Wakizashi, but with a longer nakago and tsuka (handle). It is finished with a replica of an antique blackened cast steel tsuba and uses the new bamboo/copper mekugi pin.
