Type 4 - "MARU"/"ICHI MARU"

This is the overall apparent of the sword, to show the curvature and sori. This sword feels lighter than our other blades making it easier to handle. This sword was intended to be a "functional display" katana for those that cuts infrequently, and primarily wants a display sword, but don't want to spend the money on something too expensive.

Blade geometry and Hamon - (Note that since all grind and polish are done by hand, the final geometry of the kissaki and appearance of hamon on each individual katana will vary slightly according to the final polisher).

Blade is fully sharpened as is with all our other functional katanas. 1045 carbon steel will hold a cutting edge, but may require more sharpening and polishing if used frequently for cutting.

Fittings - This is brand new custom created cast steel tsuba. The finish is blackened steel at 0.275".

Saya (Scabbard) is Basic black lacquered wood saya.

The Maru (Ichi Maru) is our most affordable iaito. It is a light feeling blade that is easy to handle. The steel construction makes this a blade softer than our other swords which will require more maintenance if used for cutting. (More frequent sharpening or polishing). This sword is best suited for those that wants a display katana for the most part and only using it for occasional light cutting.
