This is an early prototype
of our 1045 Ko-Katana which subsequently went into production. This particular
blade is identical to our "Musha-Bessaku". It was only used
as a visual and weight reference before we started our production run.
The blade was never used for cutting or testing... the saya is a bit dirty,
but everything else is like new. Blade is 19.75" in length. The spine
at habaki is 0.28" thick and weighs 1 lb 12 oz. The blade is through
hardened 1045 hand hand polished and sharpened. It uses one single mekugi
and has a 10.5" tsuka with a panel same wrap. The tsuba is a random
alloy tsuba from our sample room (crane design - From the supplier of
the tsuba for "Daimyo" (Tony Long)).
This prototype differs
from the final production in that it has an alloy tsuba and fittings instead
of the final blackened steel tsuba.
